ACTION DAY AGAINST ANIMAL TESTING

Four places, one aim: to stop animal testing!

When: Friday 27 February 2009

Target: Hartelust
Time: 08.00 till 10.00
Where: Kapelmeesterlaan 112B, Tilburg

From 8.00 till 10.00 there will be a loud protest taking place for the monkey trader Hartelust. Roberto Hartelust imports monkeys from China and sells them for 2000 euro each to animal testing centres. In Tilburg, the animals, held in small steels cages, are tested against sicknesses. Hartelust can keep a maximum of 200 monkeys in the hut and has a license to negotiate 720 monkeys annually.

Target: Embassy of Nepal
Time: 12.00 till 13.00
Where: Keizersgracht 463, Amsterdam

The next action starts at 12.00 in the heart of Amsterdam at the Embassy of Nepal. With folders, banners and protest boards, we will inform the crowd and passers-by about the money trade which America has started up in Nepal. The monkeys are intended to be used and abused and killed in horrifying experiments in laboratories where even more than 4000 captured monkeys are kept. Nepalese activists with the support of the Anti Vivisection Coalition has initiated a lawsuit to stop the export of monkeys.

Target: BPRC
Time: 14.30 till 15.30
Where: Lange Kleiweg 139, Rijswijk

From 14.30 we will stand at the entrance of Europe' s largest monkey testing centre, BPRC. The data of the Animal Experimental Commission is clear: 1 of the 3 monkeys suffers very seriously in the BPRC! It is incomprehensible that the taxpayer involuntary funds this monkey research!

Target: TNO Head Office
Time: 16.00 till 17.30
Where: Schoemakerstraat 97, Delft

TNO is a big user and abuser of research animals. The studies of the toxicity of substances are set up by means of atrocious inhalation on rats, mice, and dogs. Hamsters, guinea pigs and rabbits are used for allergy and irritation tests by lubricating their skin or squirting it in their eyes. Food supplements are also extensively tested on animals at TNO.
