800 members of the biotech industry have been invited for a conference in the hotel and conference center Koningshof in Veldhoven.
"Biotech industry" is a veiled description of what the conference will really be about. The 800 members are responsible for the death of 1 million test animals in the Netherlands. While the industry suckers up to the government institutions with hor d'ourves and drinks, hundreds of thousands of animals sit locked up in animal testing facilities - poisoned, cut open, with electrodes and magnets in their body, made sick and waiting for their death.
'In search of a new animal model for depression: the distressed pig?' is a workshop which is given by the university of Utrecht during the Biotech days. Notox and the BPRC are actively involved in the workshops. In the info stalls set up, there will be companies and organisations pitching the latest advancements in the area of animal testing.
You can find the program of the conference here.
The hotel and congress center Koningshof has, by association, grouped itself together with the animal testing industry. The Coalition Anti-Vivisection will no longer stand for it. On Thursday the 30th of October we will post ourselves at the entrance (Locht 117) of the Koningshof. From 07.30 in the morning until 21.00 at night we will crash there, protesting loudly to the animal testers face to face. We declare the seige of the vivisectors conference. The battle of the Koningshof will be made!
